In the fall of 2014, we sold our house, bought an RV, and started a journey around the country.
With Curt as captain and Laura as co-captain, we are trying to piece together a version of the American Dream. During our travels, we are learning how different life can be from region to region. People define themselves in so many unique ways; football in Texas, food and drink of New Orleans, chiles of New Mexico, outdoor activities of Arkansas, hard work in the Midwest, self-image in Los Angeles and surfing in San Diego.
Typically, we move on weekends, work during weekdays, and explore during the evening. During downtime, we have been recording our travels in the journal section of this site. Sometimes we uncover a good story. Otherwise, our goal is to meet new people, reconnect with friends, eat good food, and have great experiences. When we research a location, many of the best tips are uncovered at blog and personal website articles. Hopefully our posts can help folks as they prepare for a trip or get the most out of a vacation.
Often, our goal is to find an outdoor adventure or right of passage. For example, we completed the “rim to river to rim” hike at the Grand Canyon. Check out our excursions section for these articles.
If you have suggestions for places we should visit, contact us! We do not run a rigid schedule and will often stray hundreds of miles off a planned route for good company, tasty food, or an interesting location.
