Our last few days have been spent getting settled in our RV in Grandma’s backyard, eating too much food, and spending time with Grandma, her husband Bill, and their friends.
Today we decided to go see the original Iwo Jima Memorial and Museum, which is located in Harlingen. The bronze sculpture that stands in Arlington Cemetery in Washington DC was made from this clay sculpture that stands in Harlingen at the Marine Military Academy and Iwo Jima Memorial Museum.
To say we live in a small world is an understatement. One of the volunteers working at the museum was from Curt’s hometown. I think we talked to him about as long as it took us to go through the museum and see the sculpture. We’re looking forward to more of these experiences–to discover and meet new and interesting people on our travels (as well as spend time with some of our family members and old friends along the way).
More adventures tomorrow…
